History

In 2011, Nederlandse Zouthandel was established following the split from Warmelo & Van der Drift, a salt trading company that originated in 1820. Our family business was internationally active in the herring and salt trade. Nederlandse Zouthandel is still led by the Van der Drift family, with over 200 years of experience in the salt industry.

Our Passion

Our passion for salt is rooted in more than two centuries of dedication to the salt industry trade. This enables us to deliver high-quality salt products that stand the test of time. We believe in the power and versatility of salt to enhance life in many ways, whether it's improving water quality, keeping roads safe, enriching dishes, or maintaining swimming pools.

Products

In the 19th century, our sailing ships brought stockfish to Portugal and returned with salt from the Portuguese salt pans. For the past 80 years, we have sourced salt from two renowned salt producers: Esco K+S (formerly Solvay) from Hanover and Salins (formerly Akzo) from Hengelo. Businesses and individuals can order water softening salt from us for their water softening (regeneration) equipment. Through our webshop, Broxo 6-15 (Akzo Salins), Regenit (Esco), and Axal salt tablets (Salins) can be ordered safely, quickly, and easily. You can also order high-quality de-icing salt from Esco K+S from us.
